Day 1, 2 & 3, 4 to go...

Young Garmin Team under 23's. Both have accomplished big things so watch for them in the Tour one day.

Wow, what a ride, what an experience, what a life!!!! It’s amazing when you discover what life is about. The meaning. The reason. The purpose.

I was asked in an interview after finishing Day 2 what it is about CAF that has been the most lasting impression about being involved in this event. I didn’t even have to think about it. It changed my Life. I had been a professional athletes for over 10 years and races were always the same thing, how is your training, what are your goals, how do you feel etc etc…. I signed up for this ride after visiting my friends at New Start Homes, my Mom's Company in LA that serves people with catastrophic injuries; I had this great desire to be a part of something that would be about everything but me. I raised over 12,000 and did the ride as one of everybody else.  I felt so good because I wasn’t this “celebrity” rider that was a “celebrity” triathlete that people could ride with because they were lucky. I was lucky to ride with them!!
When people on the ride found out that I was a triathlete they were impressed but I was more impressed by them. I went home and the seed was planted for Freedom To Live (FTL), a non-profit organization that you will hear a lot about in the near future. (FTL created 15 years ago by Mom, she dreamed of having a foundation much like CAF that raises money for spinal cord injured (SCI) individuals to live independently).

Well I’m off to bed, today we rode 114 miles, 6300 feet of climbing and tomorrow is another big day, 119 miles to Santa Barbara. YEA can’t wait.
See you down the road,
Blessings,
Sian
